Student Travel Fund
The Division provides a modest amount of fiscal assistance to students who are intending to present at the APA Convention in order to help defray some of the costs associated with conference travel. Although not the cost of a typical airfare, it represents the Division’s attempt to contribute to and help support student members. To be eligible, students need to be Student Affiliate members of the Division and be first authors on a paper or poster presentation that has been accepted for either the APA Convention or Midwinter Meeting programs. This fund is made possible through member donations. Available funds are distributed equally among all qualifying students.
Student Paper Award
Division 24 offers an opportunity for students presenting either a paper or poster at the annual APA convention to be considered for the Student Paper Award. There is a significant career development function and a prestige associated with being presented this award. The winner of the award is typically announced to the Division 24 community at large at the Division’s business meeting. And with selection for receipt of this award, the student is recognized as a promising young scholar, providing an inroad for engagement with scholars within the Division.
Apart from the monetary value of this award, being recognized in this way represents a significant achievement for any student whose paper is determined the winner.
Students eligible for the award are notified directly by Division 24’s Program Chair for the APA convention. The deadline for submitting papers is typically sometime early July, in order to allow those reviewing the papers enough time to evaluate them so that the determination of the winner and the announcement can be made at the convention in August.
